DIY: Baby Food

by Robin on October 9, 2008 in DIY

Ok so we have decided to make our own baby food for Ethan.

I was looking at baby food and for the first stage it is stuff like peas, carrots and peaches. A jar of 1 oz is .69 cents.

I got to contemplating, what if we made his food? I started looking in the produce department and imagine what I found.

I bought peaches for $1.49lb and I bought 2 pounds. I pureed them in our food processor and I got 16 oz of baby food.

Let’s look at the cost analysis: Jared food would have cost us 11.04. Making it cost us 2.98!

You can use the argument that it takes time and makes a mess out of your kitchen. However, I know what’s going into my baby! We’re not hippies and all about organic stuff but I pride myself in making healthy food for Ethan to grow on.
