Dave Ramsey’s Daughter Bounced A Check!

by Robin on September 11, 2008 in Tips

Did you know that Dave Ramsey’s daughter bounced a check? Ok it’s not that eye opening and kind of delving into someone’s personal life. However, it brought up a discussion between Tyler and me. I have never bounced a check in my life; I have never spent too much on my debit card. My problem is I spend money on credit cards like its free money. Tyler has never bounced a check but he has run into problems spending too much on his debit card. He also has the problem like me with spending too much on the credit cards. This is the reason we cut up the cards!

Just curious where you got your info from? People make up stuff about Dave along the lines all the time (Dave has a mortgage, Dave has a credit card, Dave leased a car, etc.) There is usually an agenda behind these rumors. I am not saying it’s not possible, just curious about your source.

Also, most banks will put you in overdraft on debit card.

Dave Ramsey actually mentioned it on his show. He said he give his college-age daughters a set amount of money a month and one of his daughters bounced a check and the other did not,

Since then she graduated from college. This was about a year ago He mentioned on air during his show where a caller called in about her daughter and how much to give when they are in college.

He was just ranting saying all children are not the same.

Ah. I wish “bounced a check” was the only thing on my resume at that time. :-)

I don’t blame her. Actually I congratulate her for going through that experience. To my opinion, we learn better and become strong when we go through these issues. After all, she is a human being, we all make mistakes.

It is true. In fact Dave made her go to the bank and apologize to the bank manager for spending money she did not have. Priceless.

I remember interviewing Ramsey at Financial Peace Square in Brentwood, Tennessee, for a feature story I did a couple of years ago. Dave is a funny guy. He was griping about the four bicycles in his garage that are collecting dust. Apparently they paid top dollar for those bikes so they would have a “healthy” family activity, and rode them only once or twice.

Dave may be rich, but he’s a regular guy.
