Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University Week 2

by Robin on September 10, 2008 in Tips

This week Dave talked about marriage and money. Its interesting to see how we work and relate differently to money. He talked about nerds and free spirits. Upon this lesson I realized that Tyler and I are a little of both. We both like the math of saving money however we are free-spirits when it comes to using our credit cards. Hence the reason why we cut up our cards! I can tell you that its scary cutting up your cards. For some reason every time we go into a place I look to see what credit cards they take just out of habit. I know that I have cash on me to make needed purchases but it’s a bad habit. Hopefully with using the cash system for the rest of life I was still getting used to it fast. We have noticed a couple of things with cutting back eating out and going shopping. Not only are we not spending money doing these things but we are driving around less. We normally drive our family car everywhere and use the eclipse just to drive to work for Tyler. Before we were watching our spending we were getting gas for the family car every 8 days, now we are going 11 days and longer! Plus the added bonus is we are spending more time at home enjoying our new family.

That’s great news…. 8 days to 11 days is a big increase over time and will save a lot of money. Are you currently enrolled in FPU? Is Dave teaching your class or someone else?
