Couponing Series Part 1: The Power of 3!

by Robin on November 17, 2008 in Tips

I have realized recently that I have a gift for saving money!

You know how you never realize you are good at something until you open yourself up? That has happened with me and couponing. In the back of your mind you are thinking…

“I don’t want to spend hours clipping coupons in order for them to just expire and I have wasted all of that time. “

Tip:
I honestly don’t waste any time other than buying 3 newspapers every Sunday.
One of the keys to couponing is to buy 3 of the papers so you can double and sometimes triple your savings!

There is fine print on some coupons that says you cannot double or triple.  Some grocery stores have “triple days” too!

Now that I have started this I get at least 50% off every item that I buy.

If I don’t save this much I don’t buy it.

On one recent adventure (that’s what I call my shopping trips) I saved 80% of my bill and bought only name brand items. This is very doable and stay tuned for tips that I have picked up.

All excellent ideas! My family recently started clipping and organizing our coupons, and using smart(er) strategies when planning our weekly meals and shopping. We were amazed to see the immediate savings in our food budget, especially when compared against the modest time investment.

Keep up the good work “Broke Family”!
