Breaking Down The Expensive Baby Stuff

by Robin on August 14, 2008 in DIY, Tips

As a new mom I realized how expensive everyday baby items cost. I was having a hard time going through each store and determine who had the best and the cheapest product available. I just want to throw out there that you should not be afraid to take your calculator to the store with you. There is nothing like getting home and realizing that you spent too much money.

Here is what our local stores had:

Count Cost Each

Costco

Wipes 704 15.49 2.2c

Diapers 234 29.99 12.8c

Wal-Mart

Wipes 648 11.47 1.7c

Diapers 56 5.74 10.2c

Target

Wipes 720 14.99 2c

Diapers 56 5.74 10.2c

I have noticed that the bigger the size the less diapers in the package. I will have to revamp this list to figure out the most cost effective store as Ethan grows bigger. You will see the blog post about us making our own wipes however we are still buying some for day care. We didn’t think they would like us giving them our homemade wipes and I really don’t want to push the issue. So since we are buying them we need to figure out the cheapest we can find.
